MEETS CAMILLE FOURNET

At the beginning there is the artistic meeting between Françoise Déchery and Jacopo Baboni Schilingi, a composer whose aesthetic foundations are based on interactivity to make the human presence an actor of creation and artistic experience.

The idea is to design a visual, tactile and sound device offering a unique sensory experience.

For Camille Fournet’s Rue Cambon boutique in Paris, the artist/composer Jacopo Baboni Schilingi created a surprising Pianorama for which he composed a range of sounds drawing on the noises of a workday at the Manufacture: the rhythm of the tools, of the scraping of chairs being pushed when the lunch bell rings, the movements of the artisans… The appearance of the object recalls the presentation of the various leather straps (the Colorama) which Camille Fournet has the specialty. But beyond the aesthetic aspect that invites contemplation, visitors are invited.

This organ of skins, of which the keys are composed of strips of leather, permits each to set the color palette to music and, through touch, invent a musical symphony born from the sounds of the Manufacture. Upon the touch, each leather resonates. No two skins have the same hand, states a proverb of the craft at Camille Fournet, what is truly unique, is that no two have the same sound.

Internationally renowned composer for concerts and performances, Jacopo Baboni Schilingi creates works for soloists, orchestras, visual artists and the cinema.

Beginning at the age of 15, this prodigy composed and implemented a flawless journey leading to his doctorate in musicology. A career replete with awards and documentaries, both on his work and research. Composer in residence at the IRCAM for 7 years, his works are regularly played around the world.

Interdisciplinary artist, he uses various media in his works : architecture, visual art, as well as new technologies, and regularly collaborates with visual artists and movie producers.
