For the 11th edition of équinoxes, the Camille Fournet partners with the Ittah Yoda collective, whose work focuses on the future and the proposition of a new ecosystem. Here, their sensory and natural approach recast the brand in a fresh light.

“After visiting the Camille Fournet atelier, we were particularly inspired by the traditional excellence of the French luxury industry, from attention to detail in the selection of materials and artisanal craftsmanship to the community it creates. In addition, we were intrigued by the fact that most of the products are designed to be touched, so how they feel against the skin is very important.”

ÉQUINOXES

"This new series of sculptures invites the viewer to experience sensations of comfort and plenitude, evoking a possible experience of childhood revisited."

What made you want to participate in the équinoxes project?

After visiting the Camille Fournet atelier, we were particularly inspired by the traditional excellence of the French luxury industry, from attention to detail in the selection of materials and artisanal craftsmanship to the community it creates. What were your sources of inspiration?

Next, we explored the customer experience and that of the store’s staff. So we created a soft sculpture, or rather a therapeutic object, which visitors are invited to touch, hold and squeeze, in order to have a different in-store experience.

How do you hope visitors will appreciate this work?

We conceived this installation like a stage suspended right in the heart of the Camille Fournet boutique in Paris, offering visitors the possibility of self-immersion. Its universe is inspired by pillars of Maison Camille Fournet, notably shape, color and touch. The installation’s various elements invite the viewer to engage with the work through touch and even immersion by settling into the sculpture/seat. On the floor, a carpet delimits a zone between reality and fiction.

We’ve designed a new series of soft sculptures specially for the équinoxes project. Their shapes come from the genealogy of creatures we've been developing over the years.

In keeping with our ecological artistic practice, we also wanted to work with natural materials, whose colors are created by plant-based dyes that we produce in our ateluer and that evoke the importance of color at Camille Fournet. This new series of sculptures invites the viewer to experience sensations of comfort and plenitude, evoking a possible experience of childhood revisited.
